| Boatstrand is one of the many beautiful coves to be found along the Waterford coastline. The extraordinary sights of this place are the spectacular cliffs that stretch for many miles along its coastline. The area is known as the Copper Coast, so called because of the intensive mining that took place here in the 19th century. Old bore shafts, buildings, chimneys and mine trails still remain as evidence of this activity. |

One can follow these mining trails along the cliff tops to breathe in the bracing air of the Atlantic and marvel at the wheeling and diving of the many seabirds against a backdrop of sparkling sea. It is these elements that Martin Croke used to create the Boatstrand pattern. This is a simple design where angled Seabird shapes are incised above tall upright cuts that capture the freshness and beauty of the Copper Coast. |
