In a new partnership with Waterford Crystal, Philips will mark the 100th Anniversary of the Times Square ball drop with a collectible lighted crystal ornament powered by batteries and illuminated with light-emitting diodes. The "Let There Be Light" pattern ball, which will drop on New York's Times Square on New Year's Eve. Not only does the ornament light up, but its lights can be synchronized to blinking string lights on the Christmas tree or other holiday lights.
The same beautiful silver, embossed ribbon suspends the ball and the hatbox houses the ball ornament and the battery pack.
Waterford Crystal, creators of the spectacular crystal ball the has descended on the "crossroads of the world" since the millennium celebration on New Year's Eve 1999, will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the ball drop with the dazzling Times Square Ball 100th Anniversary Collection of Waterford Crystal.
Waterford designers will create a
signature cut crystal design for each edition. The
inaugural image, "Let There Be Light," is a dramatically
stylized, radiating sunburst. This distinctive pattern
