Designed to be admired,
Nambe's Dreidel is made of their signature
metal, and engraved with the Hebrew
letters nun, gimmel, and hay to symbolize
the phrase, "A great miracle happened
there." This refers to a remarkable
occurrence during the reclaiming of the
ancient Temple Jerusalem, when a single
day's supply of Temple's oil burned for
eight days. Traditionally, during
Hanukkah, children have played a game of
chance with the toy and small coins or
candles. Each of the letters of the
dreidel signifies a gain or loss. When not
admiring the dreidel, rest it back in its
acacia wood stand. |
