Celebrating Waterford Lismore 60th Anniversary!
60 Years of Lismore and Centuries of History
Synonymous with luxury and fine living, the Waterford Crystal Lismore pattern has been Waterford's pre-eminent design for 60 years.
Derived from the Gaelic "lios more", meaning "great ringfort", Lismore was inspired by the gothic architecture of the 800 year-old Lismore Castle in County Waterford, Ireland. Ancestral home to England's Dukes of Devonshire since the 18th century, the famed castle overlooks the beautiful Muster countryside of the Irish coast.
Influenced by the 18th century crystal designs of Waterford founders George and William Penrose, Waterford Crystal designer Miroslav Havel created the Lismore pattern in 1953. The pattern features refined diamond cuts- a signature of early Penrose designs- and a symmetrical series of upward flowing wedge cuts. The clarity of the crystal combined with the refraction of light through the cutting created what the world now treasures- the enduring allure of Lismore."
Making a Statement
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Lismore, leading designers at Ireland's House of Waterford Crystal studio were given the unique opportunity to craft a series of statement pieces and magnificent chandeliers that captures the unique spirit of Lismore and showcase their individual skills and distinctive vision. The House of Waterford Collection epitomizes the highest level of craftsmanship and celebrates Waterford as the pre-eminent maker of the world's finest crystal.
Celebrating with a Champagne Toast
The Lismore 60th Anniversary Collection acclaims a design so esteemed and iconic it has been admired and emulated for 60 years as the zenith of perfection, brilliance and beauty. The celebration pieces of the collection, the Lismore Saucer Champagne, venerates both an esteemed crystal pattern and the universal symbol of chic elegance and sophistication.
