Figures copied from a candelabra in St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican in 1770. These figures were cast from Michelangelo’s great works. Originally produced in Basalt and Jasper in the 19th century. The bowl is ornamented with the acanthus scroll. The base is ornamented with individual petals each placed with painstaking care to the base.
This piece requires several firing props so that the bowl shape is not compromised during the firing process. Each of the three human figures are likewise fired with much propping to ensure consistency of the base on which the bowl rests.
