In Greek mythology, the Nereids were the 50 daughters of Nereus and Doris. Associated with the Aegean, these sea nymphs often accompanied Poseidon and helped sailors to survive fierce storms.
An oval basket supported at each end by two Nereid figures on a base moulded to represent waves, produced by Wedgwood in Queen’s Ware.
