This basket has been lovingly hand-woven in the shape of a star and features hand applied elements depicting celestial bodies; The Sun, the Moon and the shooting stars. The Sun rises bringing light and warmth: essential for all life. Blooming on either side are warm, hand painted sunflowers, representing longevity and strength. The Sun sets and the Moon rises; helping to sustain our climate, giving us tides and bringing darkness. Hand-crafted Moonflowers blossom on either side with contrasting symbolism of delicacy and limited time. The Moonflowers are decorated with cooler tones.

Belleek Pottery's long running tradition of basket weave was introduced by William Henshaw in 1867 and carries on to this day.The Celestial Basket has been inspired by the Sun and the Moon; the duality and balance they bring , their vital importance and the ancient Irish knowledge of this. The Newgrange monument, County Meath, was designed so the passageway and chamber are aligned and the Sun shines into the chamber in the morning during the winter solstice. The 'Calender Stone', located at Newgrange's sister site Knowth, is a large kerb stone depicting crescent and full moon shapes believed to be mappings of lunar cycles.

Crystal Classics is the largest independent retailer of Belleek China.

Belleek Pottery has been hand-crafting fine porcelain in County Fermanagh, Ireland, continuously since 1857 in what was to become Northern Ireland. The village of Belleek was a natural choice to locate the business especially the part of the village known as Rose Isle. This small isle provided the best opportunity to leash the yet untamed power of the River Erne - power to drive a mill wheel strong enough to grind components into Slip, the term applied to liquid potters clay.

Known for its beautiful translucence, each piece is light but is also very durable, with fine design detail and hand-painted shamrocks, flowers or gold trim.

16 individuals craft and care for each piece before it receives the famous Belleek trade mark, ensuring it's authenticity, is gift boxed and packed for the journey to America.

Belleek's reputation has been built on product excellence. Company founder, John Caldwell Bloomfield declared that any piece with even the slightest flaw must be destroyed. Over 155 years later, this is still strictly adhered to. The result is perfection.
