Chloe is as pretty as picture in her deep crimson gown and details such as the double-stranded pearl necklace and hat trimmed with hand-made flowers with red centres and a satin band to match her dress, add the perfect finishing touch. Picture hats or broad-brimmed hats were in vogue in the late 19th and early 20th century, when society ladies and even the suffragettes would trim them extravagantly with ostrich feathers and flowers such as roses. During the First World War, broad-brims remained popular but they were not trimmed. In 1924, Queen Mary wore a picture hat to Ascot, reviving the fashion, and, although hats tended to be less extravagantly decorated than previously, they remained a popular choice with many ladies until the outbreak of war in 1938.

As evidenced by the name, Royal Doulton enjoys the distinction of a "Royal Warrant" -- a mark of distinction bestowed upon people or companies who have regularly supplied members of the Royal Family with goods or services. Royal Warrants, regarded as a mark of supreme excellence and quality, cannot be bought or sold.

King Edward awarded the first Royal Warrant to Royal Doulton in 1901. The Doulton Company then became The Royal Doulton Company. Presently, the Royal Doulton brand holds two Royal Warrants, the Royal Albert brand holds two Royal Warrants and the Minton brand holds one.
