Originally designed by Marc Lalique, the shape of the bowl is created by oak leaves, found in the Compiegne forest. Inspired by and named for the Compiegne forest, a nationally owned forest in France, in the north of France. The forest is one of the largest in France. Today the bowl is presented in vibrant red color, like the fallen autumn leaves that adorn the ground. The bowl is created using the pressed technique. After detailing the piece, the top of the relief is sanded while the flat part is polished clear.
